From my understanding, based on how inflation was calculated 40 years ago, we are actually at just over 20%.

Trajectory is not good...

The true fix would be a popping of all the asset bubbles...and/or a constriction of money supply.
Would be easier if we actually made stuff.

over 40 years how inflation is measure has evolved

i read the model is 2% inflations

by constrictions you mean constraint on its growth?

I wouldn't say it's evolved...more of a trick to hide the actual rate...much like they did with unemployment calculations.

Yes, the Fed's target rate is an average of 2%. This was recently changed as well. It used to be a target rate of 2%...not an average rate of 2%. Adding the word 'average' might not seem like a big deal, but it actually is. Gives them an excuse to run over, to make up for periods of a lower rate. The whole point is to boost GNP numbers. I believe the target GNP increase rate is 4%, of which a 2% inflation rate would make up half of that.

You can constrict money supply by reducing the rate of increase, but it is more effective to reduce the money supply when you have issued too much. Issuing too much is a main factor driving inflation. When Obama started regular QE, we started pumping too much into the money supply...now it's effects are hitting us.

evolved is the wrong word

morphed by much shorter term pressures that reproductive rate drive

cant put my finger on it

but ive heard a few times that employment of prime age workers has never been lower
