Grove Bags - Grove Curing Bags...

After enjoying the fruits of your labors, we all need a place to chill. This is that place. Totally senseless irrelevant banter encouraged.

I hope we can sort this out and you get a fuller picture of what they're about.
Site just does not work for me. :dunno:
No worries...found a rather informative thread...
https://support.ilovegrowingmarijuana.c ... cure/63450
Those guys all seem to like them, so looks promising.
Looks like you need a moisture meter, like you use with wood, so that you know that the buds are 10-12% when you bag them.
Are you going to do some in jars to compare?
Oh, that's too bad. Lot's of great info there. That circular chart thingy in the middle of the page? You can hover your cursor over it and it opens up a bubble that defines that point.

What I posted is the whole home page IF you can view it.

That is a great thread! I only got 44 posts in to it. Any converts by the end? Does it have a Happy Ending? :winky: :roflmao:

I'm going to try and avoid the jars. I have a case of them - 1 flat. I'm not keen on the work involved. I'll do it IF I have to.

I read or watched where they said you can put bud in them that 'isn't exactly dry' but you do have to burp them for a few days.

But, I did buy a dozen of those mini-hygrometers for that purpose and I'll throw a few in the bags to monitor them and size them up - familiarize myself with the bags.

I do have a Moisture Meter for Woodworking. Not the expensive ones. It's right here at my Right foot so it's At The Ready :winky: I use it for checking equilibrium of the lumber itself. Is the moisture in the wood stabilized...not rising and not falling. That's the best I can do here since I don't have a Kiln. Last time I checked them they tested around 13%, I think...and they were stabilized there (it's been a while).

Thanks for the discussion, my friend!

You can count on my reporting in what ever it is I do do! Very likely to include pictures, don'tcha know!!! :winky:  :roflmao:

Excellent thread, thanks!

I've always gone by the stems as my moisture meter. I dry them in the air until I hear an audible snap when I bend them.

I do have a Moisture Meter for Woodworking.
I think that is exactly what they are using...some better than others.
Company rep told them, prong the buds not the stems, and put in bag at 10-12%.

I've always done by feel, in glass jars.
Doubt I'll ever change...I like a hands on approach during the cure.
But I am curious aboot the bags...skeptical, but curious.

Large Loretta has been hanging since just after I took her down. There is not audible snap. More like bending a wet noodle! :roflmao:

I'm going to see IF I can get a reading off of her right now!

General 4-in-1 Moisture Meter and Large Loretta!...

Post by WhiteHotAfterburner »

I almost pulled a stoner move and nearly forgot! :roflmao:

It's a General 4-in-1 Moisture Meter...

First is the Red Oak.

General 4-in-1 Moisture Meter 0001 07172021.jpg

Then some store bought Pine in the same stack as the Red Oak.

General 4-in-1 Moisture Meter 0002 07172021.jpg

Then Loretta (I may have fingered the probe).

General 4-in-1 Moisture Meter 0003 07172021.jpg

Will try and see if I can duplicate that number later on. I was in a bit of a rush. I was touching one of the probes. The "buds" aren't anything to write home about! :roflmao:

I'm rather hungry! I'll be MIA for a bit, at least.

Laters!,

Grove Bags - Grove Curing Bags...

Post by Munchy »

I've started using these Boveda packets for my stash,
which come in sizes from 4g to 5lb capacity, and they last up to 6 months.
I was wondering how long the Grove bags last before they stop working and require replacement?
They advertise being packet-less, but what is the benefit of that, unless they last a lot longer?
If they work for the same length of time, I'd guess that just replacing the packets
might be more cost effective than replacing the bags?

Grove Bags - Grove Curing Bags...

Post by Mister Grafik »

Having cured your bud to 10-12 percent the moisture is stable. You will get that number after hanging for the right amount of time.

The mylar bag is only an airtight bag. The foil on the inside is what keeps contents on the inside stable for long periods of time.
The original use of mylar bags is small goods at the grocery store such as candies, nuts, dried fruits etc.

On their website it's recommended to completely dry the bud before putting it in the bag. No shit?

There was a good discussion pretty much blowing this thing open on another board.

Munch, I personally don't like the Boveda packs in my jars but they work pretty well.

Dry and Jar/bin that's it for me :smoke:
