Patience is a virtue.
Most of my failures in crop production has been lack of patience.
Trying to push things faster.
The sun takes its own time.
Always a new "experiment" this.
I like your thinking going back to the basics and relearn.
Forget all the bad habits.
Remember how much you love the plant. Its beauty. Its abundant aromas and fragrances.
Soft smoke on the palate for taste? Oranges Tangerines Bananas Pepper? Paint? Comet?

drying out fast is actually a good thing, as you can feed em more often and gain more precise controll of their needs
as a quick fix to your algea problem, just save a few pizza boxes which you cut out in disc form the size slightly larger than the diameter of your pots, make one cut, from the center to the outside, pull this cutted disc between pot and plant ... can be modded up with time n money :P
yep its true, most indoor dutch genetics is too sensitive for real sun , they need hardeneng off in the first 2 weeks
