not soon enough. was too busy working..
saw this on the strains' site after it was too late,
but thought maybe it wouldn't happen to me,
given the seemingly longer days recently:

Place clones outside on June 1st to prevent premature flowering.

I wonder how this might turn out now? an early harvest of airbud?
probably not too good... maybe I can get more of this kind to start over

early training

early training.jpg (510.4 KiB) Viewed 465 times
Type: Sativa Dominant
Genetics: Mango Trees x Banana OG x Blueberry Muffin
Scent: Ripe banana and sweet mango
Flavor: Banana candy and mango nectar
Effects: Uplifting and calming
Suggested Medical use: May help calm nerves

"We threw around the name Humboldt Smooth before deciding that banana and mango are the dominant aromas. The combo of terpene profiles that make these unique seeds is rare in our experience. This strain packs a punch and might leave you on a tropical beach soaking up the sun. You will appreciate the huge plants and amazing vigor. PM resistant but can have mold towards the end of the season. THC hovers around 22% with high trichome production, but the nose is what makes this so special."

it's gonna be a damn shame that I can't smell anything. :frown:

Genetics: Wedding Cake x Gelato 33
THC %: 20% – 24.99%, 25% +
Scent: Sweet, vanilla, sugar
Flavor: Doughy, sweet, creamy
Effects: Relaxing, calming

"Ice Cream Cake is a strain that produces gorgeous flowers with looks and taste that does not disappoint! These flowers are tight, dense, and absolutely covered with trichomes. You can expect a vibrant, light green coloration dashed with dark purple hues throughout. Off-the-charts bag appeal."

Blue Dream
blue dream.jpg
"Hailing from Santa Cruz, California Blue Dream originated as a medicinal clone. A cross between DJ Short's Blueberry (indica) and Santa Cruz Haze (sativa), Blue Dream quickly rose to become a staple in the West Coast grower and dispensary communities. With 50-100% stronger yields than most other strains, Blue Dream produces huge dense buds packed heavily with trichomes, and covered with a fine coat of light orange hairs. With a healthy balance of full-body relaxation and mental stimulation, Blue Dream is enjoyed by new comers and veterans alike. While Blue Dream traits tend to lean toward its sativa ancestry, some phenotype have more indica like expressions."

Scent: Floral berry, spicy, cedar, blueberry pie.
Flavor: Classic haze with a tinge of floral berry.
Effects: Uplifting, cerebral, and energetic. Enjoy this bud outside in nature or use it to unwind after a long day. Patients appreciate the cerebral awareness followed by a calming body high. Good for an all-day remedy as its indica traits are not too overpowering.

Suggested Medical use: Best for treating aches and pains, depression, anxiety, nausea, cachexia, appetite loss, bi-polar disorder, and stress.

platinum OG.jpg
Type: 50/50 Hybrid
Genetics: Master Kush x Afghani OR Purps x Master Kush x OG Kush
THC %: 15% – 19.99%, 20% – 24.99%
Scent: Minty, lemony, skunky
Flavor: Minty, lemony, skunky
Effects: Spacey, narcotic, happy, lazy. A nice heavy body high with a crazy thought provoking head high.
Suggested Medical use: Stress, muscle spasm, spinal nerve pain, body aches, migraines, nausea

"Platinum OG is considered by many as the “ultimate” kush strain. Found in sunny California, very strains compare to Platinum’s potent kush scent, taste, and effects.

It’s no wonder where the Plat OG Kush got its name--this kush strain is so completely covered in crystals that it takes on an actual silvery platinum bling. Each nug is a centerpiece unto itself and beautifully adorned with purple hues and bright orange hairs."

Effects: Cerebral, body high, tingly, uplifting

"Larry's Breath, AKA Larry Bird Breath, is a stunning, slightly indica-dominant hybrid. This cultivar produces gorgeous flowers, even in winter greenhouses! Buds have electric orange hairs, silvery trichomes, and hues of lime green, purple, and chocolate. This strain is a solid all around performer in greenhouses, indoors, and outdoors with proper air circulation.

flowering has begun already, looks like hydrangeas,
got a lot more of them to untangle from my old trellis net, lol
unknown.jpg
just a quick tip, to view images larger than the first click,
open in new tab and then click the +

the inside of the fence is lined with this 90% shade cloth, over 90' all the way around,
to keep any potential rippers from peeking through the slats:
s-l1600a.jpg
the whole place is like booby-trapped,
so if anyone tries to get to this at night,
they'll be in for some surprises.

getting a new automatic drip system
watering by hand is quite a chore and getting worse quickly

any thoughts on using this bug netting shown and described below?
hopefully it wouldn't inhibit growth?
s-l1600.jpg
1. Pest control: The insect net can basically block all kinds of insects, mosquitoes, pieris rapae, plutella xylostella, cabbage moth, prodenia litura, achillea, ape leaf insects, aphid. Significantly reduce the use of chemical pesticides. Can be used to grow pollution-free crops.
2. Regulate the temperature, soil temperature and humidity: Tests show insect nets help plants enjoy up to lower temperature. Also, it can effectively prevent frost. Insect net helps reduce the indoor precipitation and the indoor evaporation.
3. Block sunlight: Insect nets can shade to a certain degree and reduce the possible inhibition caused by the strong light.

That could be a bit of a double edged sword. If the attempt to conceal is obvious, that would attract the attention of many of the thieves I have known..."What are they trying to hide?"

Got a dog? They are a great deterrent.

GMO is one of my favorite smokes. It's nice and distinct. I lost my damn cut.

P.S. Hopefully the heat fades for you. Nice job on the netting.

Did you mix any compost in soil?

Banana-Mango

Posted: Fri Jul 09, 2021 6:46 pm
by Munchy
no, just a lot of perlite and a little peat moss,
but the base was FoxFarm Ocean Forest Organic Potting Soil
"The Ocean Forest Potting Soil is perfect for containers and ready to use right out of the bag. Ocean Forest is pH adjusted at 6.3 to 6.8 to allow for optimum fertilizer uptake. There's no need for nitrogen fertilizers at first; instead try a blend like this to encourage strong branching and a sturdy, healthy growth habit. The Ocean Forest Potting Soil has everything your plants need, in one bag. Ocean Forest is a powerhouse blend of premium earthworm castings, bat guano, and Pacific Northwest sea-going fish and crab meal. Composted forest humus, sandy loam, and sphagnum peat moss give Ocean Forest its light, aerated texture. Start with Ocean Forest and watch your plants come alive!"

I've always thought of FF as the best stuff around here.
but I believe the #1 super-important trick is adding a lot of perlite, like 30%, to improve drainage.
Another really good trick is watering in Maxicrop seaweed extract,
and Diamond Nectar humic (fulvic) acid in-between feedings.

FF is good. I use the Happy Frog occasionally.. However The ONE time I tried FFOF I failed. So I remain bias...

"NAH SON THAT WASN'T MY FAULT THAT WAS THE SOIL" :emp:

If I had added more aeration I bet the plants would have looked much better like yours.

I haven't used Maxicrop but I do use some kelp and other sea product. I'm going to look it up.

so that DIY bug spray I used turned out to be a big mistake
mostly just for the banana-mangos
because they were already a few weeks into flowering
followed by accidentally leaving the water on all day
and not seeing much of the sun all week
due to the smoke overcast more often than not
i took off a big bunch of lowers to direct their energy up
to where it would have the best chance to recover
finally starting to see some fresh white hairs a week later
but it feels like they lost more than a week
they still have plenty of time though
before all this, i had been thinking I might get 3lb,
but now maybe back down to just 2lb if i'm lucky

Notice how your big leafs coming out of the buds only have three leafs, that plant wasn’t in aggressive veg when it started flowering......when a plant is in aggressive veg it will have pretty much a minimum of seven leafs/fingers and as it starts flowering will drop to 5 then 3 then 1 leaf.

Mine only aggressively vegged for a week or two this year.

i had removed most of the big fan leaves as well. but this was the same strain i had started too early at the beginning of this thread, was very sensitive to start flowering during long days in mid-May so had been replaced outside around June 1st, according to the nursery's recommendation, and did go out with only like a week of indoor veg time, and then it vegged out there for a good 6 weeks before started flowering weeks before all other kinds.

this pic was from about 10 days before flowering started
