Good luck Ratty! One other way to make sure ya get all the little beggars
is to wash down everything w/ a water & bleach solution.
Pots, drip trays, surfaces holding plants..any walls getting crevices etc...

Lord knows I have had more than my share of battles w/ The BORG!

None at all since I moved here,so I think that I never did ever erradicate them
from previous grow areas at JLW's :stinkeye:

& anu's tip about checking house plants for pests is a good one too

Gnats & other pests can be residing on other plants...also.be very careful when
bringing in new plants of any kind, keep them isolated until you have treated
them as a precaution.

Happy growing my dear friend

IMHO ...after space and tools clean up......Whatever treatment u use, must be continued for the life cycle of ur "bugs".
It also might be prudent to alternate treatments (w/another quality product) during their cycle... (i think about 7- 14 days, from egg to adult, temperatures can lengthen this span, They like it hot and dry...

These mites are a real problem for all my houseplants. Also, recently, I brought some plants in, from a friends outdoor garden. Mites obviously were established or hatched, off these, because once I noticed a problem it was widespread.
I like pyrethreum, especially the aerosol form. I see signs of phytotoxicity with any of the soap type sprays, if you spray enough to have any impact at all.
So, I revert back to my old homemade formula, and I have basically gone from lots of mites, to no signs whatsoever. I strongly recommend that you try the following recipe, which has never shows phytotoxicity damage on any plants.
Recipe for a regular sized spray bottle:
Crush one garlic clove and with a few dry chili flakes, boil in 3 cups water for several minutes. Remove from the heat.
Add in the tobacco from 2 cigarettes and let stand for 5 minutes.
Strain through a coffee filter and pour into spray bottle. Top water almost to the top, leaving room for:
1/2 tsp dish soap, 1/2 tsp listerine, 1/4 tsp cooking oil.
Shake lightly, so as not to foam up the soap.
Use twice a week, for 2 weeks to deal with an infestation.
Use lightly, once a week as a preventative.
(Spray when it is cool. Mornings are the best)
Give me some feedback, how it works for you.

the lil ones were in my south facing kitchen window to expose them to natural
sunlight & to have them at 12/12 to sex them. Now I am going beserk wondering
when they will find my bigger girls.

Am going to try the garlic/tobacco spray using recipe above. Will get some more

Permethrin will do a better job, and will sort out the fungus gnats, too.

After soaking my plants in it, and using a couple of permethrin foggers in the growspace, and I haven't seen any of the little bastards for nearly a month.
I'm still keeping my eyes peeled, but hopefully I've got rid of them for now.
