a bloke down the brothel

After enjoying the fruits of your labors, we all need a place to chill. This is that place. Totally senseless irrelevant banter encouraged.

British diplomat forced to quit after he is filmed having sex with two Russian prostitutes
A British diplomat in Russia has resigned after he was filmed having sex with two prostitutes.

James Hudson, 37, quit his post as deputy consul general in the Urals city of Ekaterinburg over the video.

The grainy images obtained by a hidden video camera show a British diplomat James Hudson romping on a bed in a brothel with two Russian prostitutes.

Athletic James Bond would never pay for sex - and he would usually find time to sweep a bedroom for hidden bugs before displaying his romantic prowess. But it seems his real-life counterpart was not quite so careful.

For Hudson, 37, Britain's deputy consul general in Russia's third largest city, Ekaterinberg, has resigned and returned home in disgrace after his session with the prostitutes was gleefully broadcast over the internet under the headline 'The Adventures of Mr Hudson in Russia'.

This evening the Foreign Office was conducting an urgent review into whether the diplomat was targeted in a classic sex sting by Moscow's secret services.

The Daily Mail understands that among the possibilities being considered is that Russia's FSB counter-intelligence service - the post-communism version of the KGB - tracked

Hudson's illicit activities and filmed him in a bid to blackmail him into becoming an agent.

There has been rising tension between Britain and Russia in recent years, leading to a series of diplomatic incidents, and in the remote city of Ekaterinberg in the Urals, rarely visited by Britons, Hudson stuck out like a sore thumb.

In the 4 minute 18 second film, bespectacled Hudson first walks into a room wearing nothing but an open dressing gown and holding a wine glass.

He kisses one prostitute, then another arrives and sits on his lap on the sofa. Before long the women are down to their underwear, and the trio are drinking champagne.

The film then cuts to the bedroom - where there is evidently a second hidden camera - for a shot of Hudson and the two women on the bed, all naked.

A romp ensues, with the diplomat enjoying the attentions of both prostitutes.

At one stage, in the video one of the prostitutes says, in heavily accented English, 'Would you like it?', before sitting on Hudson's lap.

A spokesman for the Russian Interior Ministry in Ekaterinberg said yesterday: 'There is indeed such a video. We can't comment on who it is, but you should try the British consulate.'

Hudson's immediate superior in Russia, Ekaterinberg Consul-General, Jenny Lock, confirmed Hudson had left for home but refused to be drawn on whether secret services involvement in the case was suspected.

'I am sorry, I can't comment,' she said.

A British Foreign Office source, however, said: 'Obviously, we will be looking into the case.

'This will be something that will involve both London and colleagues in post.'

Alongside the possibility that Russia plotted to blackmail Hudson into becoming an agent, diplomats will also be considering the possibility that the footage was intended to be used by unscrupulous criminal gangs to blackmail him, perhaps to obtain British visas.

Hudson was flown out of Ekaterinberg, apparently for a showdown with his bosses in London.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office confirmed Hudson had resigned, but refused to comment on the video.

An FCO spokeswoman added: 'The FCO expects all its staff to demonstrate high levels of personal and professional integrity.'

It emerged this evening, however, that the Foreign Office and MI6 became aware of the breach days and perhaps even weeks before he was publicly exposed in Russia.

The footage had been visible on a minor Russian site since at least June 6, though it seems the diplomat was only unmasked as the 'star' of it in the past few days.

Officials refuse to say how they became aware of Hudson's serious security breach.

Nor do they explain exactly when he was ordered home, though Russian sources say it was five or six days ago.

Russian reports suggest that Hudson was known to frequent sex clubs, information that may have come from the Moscow secret services.

Unproven allegations that he was a drug user and frequented city casinos were also aired in the local media, suggesting the diplomat was being watched.

One report said: 'The British diplomat was often noticed in those entertainment places in Ekaterinberg during working hours.'

Mr Hudson, a father of one, joined the Foreign Office in 1994, and has enjoyed postings to Sarajevo, Havana and Budapest.

He married Sally Barrett, one year his junior, in London in 1996, but they divorced a year later.

In England he is still registered as living with his parents in their former council house in Poplar, East London.

An old friend said: 'He was a pretty ordinary chap, poor bloke. And I thought they trained the diplomatic corps to resist this sort of thing.'
