sweet basil
getting my toe wet
someone gave me a little plant,
bought at some grocery store somewhere
the wrapper says "not intended for transplant"
i guess this is so you can have basil a week after buying it
for some recipe your going to make
its in a tiny cup
about 10 inches tall
very healthy
what size container should i pot it in?
what kind of sunlight does it need?

sweet basil
Yeah I’ve bought those basil plants in the grocery store before. Put it in the ground, grew exceptional well. no problems
what size container should i pot it in?
1-2 gallons ought to be fine.
what kind of sunlight does it need?
Direct is always good, tho basil is known for shade tolerant. Dill’s purple basil is a indicative of plants evolving for diffused light, with the (purple) carotenoids.
If it starts to sun scald, bleaching of the leaves, try half shade till acclimated.

sweet basil
I used to grow basil a lot before Trader Joe's started selling it fresh cheap. Grow it the same as you do weed outside, it'll love it. Harvest before it goes into flower, most people (including me) think the flavor goes a little off then.

no kidding?
i figured it was to small to divide right off after i thought about it,
guess i will let this go a week or two and see how it likes this soil i got it in
it was definately root bound,
i scored the circling roots before replanting
